The “Calle de las Cruces” (Street of Crosses) is currently a roadway that connects key amenities within the urban fabric of Villar del Arzobispo, while also serving as a link between the newer part and the old town. At the top is the school complex—primary primary school, secondary school, multipurpose center, and sports fields—followed by the block comprising the school, the Mancomunidad (Commonwealth), and the Hort del Senyor (Senior’s Garden)—approximately at the center of the street—and ending at the Patronato (Courthouse). This concatenation of amenities makes the street a safe route for pedestrians, promoting soft mobility, recreational spaces, and improved urban connectivity.
Therefore, taking all these factors into account, the street becomes a longitudinal focal point that connects the urban fabric, generating spaces for relaxation and meeting places with adequate environmental comfort, recognizing the surrounding urban structure and integrating the proposal through urban furniture elements and materials that provide a unified image. To achieve this, it is necessary to consider mobility, existing uses, as well as possible improvements to be incorporated in terms of environmental strategies—greater comfort, greater soil permeability, lower environmental costs, and a reduced heat island effect—always considering an inclusive space for all, without barriers, ensuring universal accessibility and the safety of vulnerable groups.
